Orvibo S20 Smart Socket – Review and Installation

Sometimes you may think about is it possible to switch on or off an electrical appliance at your home remotely or to boil tea in your electric tea heater without coming home. Even though everything starts to be connected and managed over the internet these days, is it possible to do that for your old electrical devices. If your electrical outlet is smart then why not. In this post, we will examine the Orvibo S20 intelligent socket product from our intelligent house series.

Box Content and Appearance

Only the device itself and a simple operating manual are displayed in the device box. Installing this device with this manual is sometimes difficult. For this reason, I have created this guide which is more descriptive for you.

The device has a pretty plain appearance from the front

In the bottom view, it is said that the socket outlet is grounded;

In side view, you can see that the device is very thin and roundy style.

After seeing the device with the basic lines, let’s go to the installation of the device.

Device Installation

When you want to install it in the way described in the user manual, sometimes you can’t succeed, so I will talk about the installation steps in detail.

1. Plug the device in

The red light will start flashing when the device is connected to the power outlet.

2. Push the button

Push the button for few seconds (push and hold)

At this time the button will start blinking blue.

3. Install WiWo App

Search and Install WiWo App from IOS Appstore or android Playstore

4. Connect the New Wireless network

When you press and hold the button for a few seconds, the device will go into Access Point mode (blue blinking) and it will start to publish its own unencrypted wireless network. Connect to this wireless network that named WiWo-S20.

4. Open the WiWo App

Open the Wiwo application and click the list icon on the upper left of the Device List menu. From there, enter More menu.

5. Enter the Ap Configuration Menu

Enter AP Configuration menu, under More screen.

6. Configure Wireless Network

In the Wifi Menu, click on the WiFi-S20 that you are connected now.

Select the wireless network you use at home, where the smart jack will normally be connected.

Enter the password for your wireless network.

7. Start the Configuration

When you push the OK button by entering the wireless network password, the software will start configuring the socket. At this time, the light of the device will start to flash constantly while it is flashing.

After this step, your smart socket is now connected to your home wireless network and ready to use.

7. Connect to Your Home Wireless Network

Normally the phone will automatically connect back to your home wireless network, but if you have not, go to your wireless network settings and connect to the wireless network you are using at home.

8. Add Smart Socket to the Application

Now your phone and smart socket are is connected to your home wireless network. Now you can add our socket to the WiWo application.

Open the application and click the plus (+) sign in the top right of the Device List menu.

 

Pressing the Search button will automatically find the device.

Scanning will occur automatically.

The device was found automatically after scanning.

9. Manage Device Remotely

Now you have added the appliance to your application. You can open and close the electric by pressing the on / off button on the screen.

Each time you press the button, that socket’s position will change. At the same time, the light on the socket will turn red if it is turned off, and blue if it is turned on.

You can test the outlet by connecting a charger.

Your socket is now ready for use. And you’ll be amazed that you can manage the socket not only from the home wireless network, but also from outside when you’re out.

Using Wiwo menus, you can schedule for the socket, see the socket status, turn it on and off remotely.
